Project Overview

This apartment building in Kingston, ON, offers a unique opportunity to address the region's pressing need for diverse housing options. With the population growth and increasing demand for affordable yet comfortable living spaces, this project endeavors to contribute to the city's housing market by providing modern and well-designed apartments. Situated strategically, the building will provide convenient access to amenities, public transportation, and employment opportunities, catering to the varied needs of residents. Through innovative design and sustainable practices, our aim is to create a welcoming and vibrant community hub that enhances the quality of life for individuals and families in Kingston.

Our collaboration with New Empire Design Build Contractor Ltd. and Alexander Wilson Architect Inc. involved serving as Mechanical, Sprinkler, and Electrical Engineers of Record, along with being the Integrated Systems Testing Engineer for this 5-storey, 49-apartment unit, 53,500-square-foot apartment building. The mechanical design included provisions for separate in-apartment PTAC units, exhaust systems for in-apartment washrooms and stoves, central make-up air units, and plumbing layouts for washrooms and kitchens. The sprinkler design incorporated head layouts to accommodate bulkheads, standpipe design, and fire pump design to address existing water pressure challenges. The electrical scope encompassed interior and exterior lighting design, fire alarm systems, and general power distribution.
