Nestled in the captivating community of Gravenhurst, Ontario, The Alexander stands as a remarkable three-storey long-term care facility, offering panoramic views of Muskoka Bay. Spanning across 75,000 square feet, this state-of-the-art facility accommodates 100 beds, along with carefully designed amenity spaces, commercial kitchens, and staff areas. The ground floor boasts an expansive poured concrete patio that provides a picturesque waterfront experience.
As the entrusted Structural Engineer of Record, we collaborated closely with an esteemed design and construction team, including passive house specialists 43 Architecture and Greystone Project Management. With concrete foundations as the sturdy base, the building embraces insulated concrete form (ICF) exterior walls and resilient masonry interior walls. Elevator shafts and stair walls are expertly crafted with durable masonry materials. The exterior façade showcases an exquisite blend of brick and glazing, harmonizing aesthetics and functionality seamlessly.
